About Sue

Sue Smith SRN, SCM, BSc (Hons), Grad Dip (Psych), HG (Dip),MPNLP, Grad Cert (CBT)

I have over a decade of experience in the biomedical profession of obstetrics and assisted reproduction as a State Registered Nurse and State Certified Midwife.

Now a graduate of Psychology and trained in Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, I have extensive experience working in the fields of social psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, mentoring, motivation, performance coaching and personal development.

I have worked for a number of years alongside leading experts in the field of social and behaviour change, with clients ranging from corporate executives and sporting professionals to voluntary sector organisations. I also have experience working with the most severely disadvantaged, socially excluded and disengaged client groups, having worked on government social incentives that embraced a cognitive behavioural approach to eliminating social exclusion.

I also work alongside leading debt expert Bev Budsworth, assiting clients with severe financial problems to manage the overwhelming emotional, psychological and physiological implications that debt can often bring. I was instrumental in helping the Debt Advisor win the prestigous award of Debt Counsellor of the Year Award 2008.

I am passionate about helping clients to change their negative behaviours and unhelpful thought patterns whilst enhancing their self belief, self efficacy and confidence. By promoting emotional engagement I support clients to challenge their limiting beliefs, assisting them in building personal awareness, inner strength and self motivation, thus cultivating improved coping skills and more effective stress management techniques.

I am a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society, Member of BABCP and Member of the European Therapy Studies Institute and abide by their Codes of Ethics and Conduct.
